In addition, they may also have a Bachelor of Education with an Ontario Teaching Certificate. Before they are hired, our tutors will be taught on how to effectively assess students' strengths and weaknesses as well as be able to plan individualized program for each student based on the Ontario Curriculum. Our tutoring is done in the comforts of your home in a 1-on-1 setting. There is no need for travelling to a centre. Our rates are affordable (especially for having a certified teacher as your tutor as most teacher tutors charge $45-$60/hour). Our resources are based on up-to-date information from the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training. We have extensive and flexible tutorial hours. What are the benefits of a certified teacher tutor? Teachers who are trained in a Canadian Teacher's College generally have a better understanding of the Ontario Academic Curriculum Guidelines. They tend to be more knowledgeable regarding the learning objectives and outcomes of a given academic subject. They have training in the use of specific teaching strategies to help individual students to succeed optimally. In addition, certified teachers are trained in assessing and analyzing students' strengths and weaknesses, thus they are better able to assist students with their learning needs. Are these tutors trustworthy? Prior to commencing employment, it is mandatory that our tutors have their criminal records checked and are cleared. From our experience, tutoring in a one-on-one setting enables the tutor to address each student's specific learning needs. Parents can have more opportunity to discuss their child/teenager's strengths and weaknesses and can learn strategies from the tutors to be involved in their own child/teenager's learning. Having the tutoring done in the comforts of your home also reduces the need to travel to a center, thus saving precious time. What is the Ontario Math & Literacy Assessment Preparation that you are offering? In Ontario, students in Grade 3, 6, 9 and 10 are writing provincial-wide standardized tests (administered by EQAO Agency). Not all the students will do well in these standardized tests. Being prepare for these tests before it take place definitely will improve the students' anxiety and performance. We offer tutorial package to help students get ready for these types of standardized tests. What is EQAO and what do the Agency do? The EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) is an agency who helps in creating, implementing and administering these standardized assessments. The Agency ensures greater accountability and better quality in Ontario's publicly funded school system. EQAO assesses all students in Grade 3 and Grade 6 in reading, writing and mathematics. EQAO also administers two secondary assessments. The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test is administered in October each year. The Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics is administered in January to students enrolled in first-semester mathematics courses and in May/June to students enrolled in second-semester and full-year courses. Exposing high school students to university level courses can significantly reduce the initial shock of entering university which many first year students experience. Our pre-university preparation program is geared towards assisting students to learn effective study skills and to become more independent in their own learning (which most university courses require). It also allows students to become more familiar with the intensive workloads, which can help them to be more disciplined in their time management and study habits. This in turn can lead to improved grades and decreased stress right from the start of their university years. What are your hours of operation? Our tutoring hours 9:00am to 9:00pm Mondays to Fridays. 9:00am to 5:00pm Saturdays and 2:00pm to 9:00pm Sundays. How do you pay for the tutorial sessions? You can pay the tutor directly (cash or cheque) at the end of the session or prepay four sessions interval. We also accept credit cards through Paypal™. NOTE: A $35 fee will be charged on all bounced cheques. Do you give receipts? Upon request, receipts are given after 10 hours of single tutorial sessions.
